Is Digital Art Dead? 👾 The Resurgence of Traditional Art

With the rise of AI Slop (Artificial “Intelligence” Created images: labeled as art by the person who wrote a sentence into an algorithm), I find it refreshing to see more digital artists flocking to, or back to, traditional art. With the rise of AI Slop (Artificial “Intelligence” Created images: labeled as art by the person who wrote a sentence into an algorithm), I find it refreshing to see more digital artists flocking to, or back to, traditional art.
That isn’t a judgment, nor am I saying that you should stop making digital art! It’s simply an observation of the current art market. This year, I started selling ACEOs on eBay. ACEO stands for Artist Cards, Editions, and Originals. Essentially, they are mini original artworks. They have to be one-of-a-kind and measure 2.5” x 3.5” to be labeled as ACEOs.
Last month, I completed my 100th mini original drawing, and that feels like a huge accomplishment. Throughout 2025, I practiced and experimented with coming back to traditional media. I completed about 40 mini drawings over 12 months. Now I’ve completed 100 in 3 months! I would definitely encourage artists to try out ACEOs, or at least experiment with traditional media.
My venture in ACEOs has been more successful, monetarily, than any stickers or prints in my shop over the past year or two, and that is wild!
As you can see, I'm not completely abandoning my digital drawing habit. One of my big goals this year is to create a coloring book of my original illustrations. I'm aiming for 28 illustrations, and I have 11 more to go! I will share more about pre-orders and such later this year 💖
