𤩠Craft shows, and Burnout, and Social Exhaustion! Oh my! š“

However exhausting 2-day craft shows are, they're often worth it, even if they arenāt financially successful! I love sharing my art with people and connecting with other artists.Ā Art is my therapy; I lose myself in it, and I hope to share that same joy with the world. š

š³ Iām currently living a very hobbit kind of lifestyle. When Iām not working my day job, I cook, clean, eat, lie in my hammock, listen to the birds, and make art. Itās a lifestyle Iāve cultivated to heal from a decade, or more, of burnout and hyper vigilance. Anxiety and overachieving ruled my life for as long as I can remember, and that has led me to chronic fatigue and pain. 0/10 would not recommend!
Ā
This means I always schedule a day or two for recovery after an event.Ā Even though Iām sober, it feels like a hangover. When I realized I had to scale back on my responsibilities, it showed me what truly mattered to me and what to prioritize. It meant not saying yes to every opportunity. It means acknowledging when Iām at my limit. Itās helped me to find a sustainable balance, not just success.
Ā
š Plus, taking Zoloft has completely transformed my mental health this past year.
Ā
All that to say, sometimes doing less is better, and it makes everything you do so much more meaningful and intentional.
Ā
š¼ļø Whether it was pure luck or finally finding my artistic footing, I had the most lucrative craft show weekend of any other over the past few years. Getting back to painting has been the right move; they were definitely a hit! But as always, stickers are the best seller.
Ā
Iāve been creating and selling my art for almost 20 years. If youāre an emerging artist, itās easy to feel discouraged when sales are low, but keep going. Keep exploring why you create art. Eventually, the sales will followĀ āļø
